Benford Badger 'Moondancer'

Informal Survey and FAQ July 2003

In the summer of 2003 I was quite interested in Moondancer, a Benford Badger (the original 'Badger' was designed for Pete and Annie Hill) being sold by owner/builder Whitney Potter. The boat was launched 2000 and is now lying on the hard in Ft Lauderdale FL. I was so interested that I flew out there to do an informal survey; thence, these photo galleries.

Unfortunately I live in Central CA and overland transport costs are prohibitive, putting Moondancer out of my reach even at Whitney's very reasonable asking price. Because I liked the boat and hate to see her sitting in a South Florida yard (hot and humid climate very hard on wooden boats) I've volunteered to get the word out -- perhaps we can find a buyer on the East or South coasts of the US who wouldn't have the truck transport costs to deal with. Someone should rescue this little boat and get her sailing again.

Moondancer is offered at an asking price of $25K US. Contact Whitney (witpot@sonic.net) not me, if you are interested. River Bend Marina is a secured yard with a guard on duty; you will have to get Whitney's permission for any access to the boat.

This is builder/owner Whitney Potter's official page about Moondancer. I verified the equipment list on my survey visit in late June 2003.
