Last Looks

One more shot from the helm position. Trying to imagine her rolling ponderously in the trades, running her Easting down -- she must have been good for 12 to 15 knots in a fair wind. Trying to imagine steering something of this length, trying to bring her up to a dock with such poor visibility to the bow. No wonder they needed tugs and tenders. In close quarters the helm would be helpless.

She is a lovely boat and it was a delightful surprise to find her docked so near my hotel. The high point of my visit to Glasgow, for sure, was my time wandering about Glennlee and chatting with the restoration team leader. I wished I could drop everything and join the project!
