Catwalk

The restored catwalk would have allowed someone on the after deck to get to the galley roof where a compass is mounted in a binnacle. A steel ship like Glenleee would have more than one compass on (and below) decks, in an attempt to compensate for the massive local deviation imposed by all the ferrous metal of the hull and rig.
