Mast Step

All the spars on the last generation of steel sailing freighters were tubular steel. The masts and bowsprit on this boat are of large diameter, larger in proportion to her hull length than the high-tech masts on modern pleasure yachts. Here we see the massive mast step of (I think) the main mast.
