Galley Bilge

The bilges on this boat were downright strange. There was a little bilge area just aft of the v-berth, which had about 6 inches of water in it. I pumped that out. It was fresh water and fairly clean. Then there was this bilge area under the galley floor. As you can see the water is scummy and brown, and there's a lot of plumbing hiding in this hole. The section of bilge space between the first pool of water and the second is mysterious. I thought it was probably full of concrete and pig iron, but it rang hollow! Some of this plumbing you see swimming in the Okefenokee Swamp, goes into the hollow space.
