Mast Checking

The wholetree masts show some checking, deep in places, but it is vertical with very little spiraling tendency. Did not see any horizontal checking. The mainmast shows a noticeable bend aft, presumably from the great weight of the main sail. Lightening the main sail by replacing solid wholetree battens with GRP tubing might be the single most cost-effective improvement one could make to this rig.
