Wasser MC Tar 1
After the scraping was done the guys took a day off and I ground down all the bare patches with an angle grinder loaded with 50 grit sandpaper. This was not terribly taxing physically, but slow and filthy work -- at day's end I looked like a coal miner. It took about 9 hours working solo. The following day the guys returned and we attacked the hull with wire brushes to put some tooth into any bright metal, and to loosen up and remove any remaining scale and rust. Then it was finally time to apply some paint! The first coat is Wasser MC Tar over the bare steel patches. This picture is taken at day's end after covering all bare steel with Wasser, and it's a great relief to me because more rain is predicted (oh no!) for that night and the following day. I'm very glad to have the bare steel covered before the rain starts.
