Stuffing Gland

Nameless' prop shaft is 14 feet long and made in sections. This is where a mild steel (interior) and a stainless (exterior) section mate, under the main cabin sole. The stern tube commences here and the stuffing gland is shielded with plastic. Apparently it threw a little water onto the underside of the cabin sole, which annoyed Evan, so he shielded it and installed a little drip pan. The drip pan has twin drain pipes leading to brine collecting bottles in the nearby after bilge keel sumps. It is a delightful detail and quite indicative of Evan's attitude to boat building and boats.
